Rest, Recharge, and Real-World Connection: Highlights from Our First Ever Carers’ Weekend

Ten incredible family carers. Two restorative nights in Co. Fermanagh. Countless shared moments, laughs, and deep breaths.

We are absolutely thrilled to share the highlights from TSC Ireland’s very first Carers’ Weekend!

Caring for a loved one with Tuberous Sclerosis Complex (TSC) takes immense strength and dedication. Because family carers spend so much time looking out for others, we wanted to create a special space where they could hit pause, focus on their own wellbeing, and enjoy some well-deserved respite.

A Space to Pause and Unwind

Hosted at the peaceful Lake Isle Retreat in Co. Fermanagh, the weekend offered the perfect blend of relaxation, gentle movement, and peer support.

Carers stepped away from their daily routines to enjoy:

  • Mindful Movement & Nature: Morning yoga sessions, serene canoeing on the lake, and peaceful walks through Fermanagh’s natural scenery.

  • Nourishment & Rest: Delicious, wholesome meals prepared for everyone, giving carers a complete break from domestic duties.

  • Real-World Chats: Most importantly, plenty of time around the fire and coffee table to connect with others who truly understand the daily realities of caring for someone with TSC.

As one attendee put it, the retreat offered:

"The right mix of challenge, comfort, and connection."

Caring for Those Who Care for Others

This inaugural weekend was funded directly by TSC Ireland, made possible by the generosity of our donors, partners, and community fundraisers. Every bake sale, marathon, and monthly donation helps us deliver vital initiatives like this to support the people who care for our community.

To everyone who contributed, shared a post, or raised funds. thank you. You made this transformative weekend a reality for ten deserving carers.
